"Until now, a total of 102 fatalities were confirmed dead ... the number of victims of the 228 people missing," said the New Zealand Civil Defence Minister, John Carter, as reported by AFP on Friday (25/02/2011).
However, moments later the local police called the number grew to 103 dead. Inspector Russell Gibson stated, this amount still will grow to see the increasing number of bodies that had pulled from the rubble of destroyed by an earthquake on 22 February this.
